Mt. Untersberg

The Mt. Untersberg is located between Germany (Bavaria) and Austria (Salzburg) and is about 1,972 m (6,473 ft) high. There are also a lot of legends. One of them is the legend about the Emperor Frederick Barbossa. He is asleep in Mt. Untersberg and his beard is growing around a round table. It is said, that when his beard has grown 3 times around the table the end of the world has come.
Another versionn of this legend is about Charlemagne. He sleeps in the Mt. Untersberg and is taken care of by the so called Untersberg Mandln. Charlemagne awakes every 100 years and asks if the ravens are still flying around the Mt. Untersberg. It is said, that when the ravens aren't flying around Mt. Untersberg that he and his household knights are fighting the last battle between good and evil.

To get at the top of the Mt. Untersberg you can use the Untersberg cable car (for more infos: http://www.untersbergbahn.at/). From the top you have a very  beautiful overview. In good weather you may can see the Chiemsee in Germany from there. If you are lucky you are able to see one of the vultures of the Salzburger Zoo. You also have to try to feed the alpine chough.

The Mt. Untersberg is also an popular hiking route, but 'till now I haven't had the courage to summit it, so I can't give you much information about the difficulty of these routes.

Some impressions from the top:
